At 16, Luis started as an intern at the firm run by Guillem’s father, a practice with more than 50 years of history. What began as an internship became a 27-year career leading the employment department. Guillem arrived in 2000 at the very bottom.
Since then, we have worked together for more than 25 years. In 2018 we decided to start from scratch.
TaxFactory was not born as a grand strategic project. It was born from a real need. Luis came from traditional advisory work, from paper, process and close personal service. Guillem had built Acompany, an online advisory firm that was later sold to a Finnish group. He brought a fully digital vision: no paper, web-based processes, and agile client relationships. We brought together two worlds that seemed incompatible.
We saw a rigid sector where humanity, closeness and even a sense of humour were missing, without ever losing professionalism. It was not that the old way worked badly: we come from a firm with half a century of history. But we wanted something with its own personality.
From the start we wanted a committed team with a different way of understanding this work. We began in a small office in Terrassa. Today we have offices in Terrassa and Valencia, we are nine people, and nobody has left or been dismissed.
Luis is fully focused on the firm. He connects with people easily and has a disarming sense of humour. Guillem combines TaxFactory with startup investments and the family business. He is drier, more direct, more structural. That combination works, even if it looks unusual.
We do not always tell clients they are right. Sometimes our job is to tell you what you need to hear, not what you want to hear. But we always do it directly.
